Location: Los Angeles, CA 90045 or Remote
Position: General Accountant
Pay Rate: $45 – 54/hr DOE
Duration: 26 weeks
Expected Shift: Monday-Friday, 8-5
Note: Equipment provided by UCLA
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing technical and general accounting assistance to the Controller. Primary responsibilities include manage the monthly financial closing process, reporting and annual budget process, monthly budget analysis, account reconciliations and special projects as needed.
- Manage the production of internal and external financial reports
- Manage the development of internal reports for Department Managers.
- Manage the preparation of financial analyses for management and executives.
- Interact with accounting staff to ensure completion of analytical analysis for the monthly financials.
- Review accounting ledgers on a monthly basis to ensure that revenue and expenses are properly recorded.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Assist with annual audit.
- Assist with regulatory reporting including but not limited to Dept of Managed Health Care, CMS, IRS, and Franchise Tax Board.
- Participation in the budget process
- Prepare operational and capital budgets on an annual basis.
- Contribute to monthly budget variance reporting and analysis.
- Reconciliation of various accounts and subsidiary systems
- Instrumental in developing and/or maintaining reconciliations for cash, premiums received, claims paid and IBNR.
- Accounting Liaison
- Assist department management in identifying and communicating their financial management needs.
- Respond to department and other requests for financial data and interpretation of financial reports, ledgers, policy and accounting regulations.
- Facilitate the completion of department policies and procedures.
- Completion of various special projects as assigned.

- Comply with HIPAA and Confidentiality Policies and Procedures as they apply to the job
- Comply with Department of Public Health (DPH), The Joint Commission and other accreditation and regulatory agencies standards
- Adhere to all Hospital Policies and Procedures
- Knowledge and adherence to Infection Control and Environment of Care Guidelines and Procedures as described in the annual education module
- Demonstrates adherence to the requirements for using the electronic health record
- Demonstrates understanding of institutional and department specific emergency management procedures/responsibilities to maintain personal, patient, and co-worker safety, maintains competencies in these areas, and participates in disaster/emergency related exercises and education.
- Demonstrates understanding of institutional and department specific safe patient handling procedures/responsibilities and maintain a level of competency on the proper use of departmental lift equipment to ensure personal, co-worker and patient safety.
Required:
- 8+ years of accounting experience
- Prefer 2+ years of mentoring other accountants but will accept those looking to take the next step in their career and oversee other team members
- Bachelor's Degree
- Healthcare experience is preferred
