An aerospace client is looking for a Structural Analysis Engineer who will analyze, research, and develop structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. 

Location: San Diego, CA 92127
Position: Structural Analysis Engineer
Pay Rate: $64/hr. on W2
Duration: 12 months or longer
Schedule: Will work a hybrid and 9/80 schedule.

  • Week 1: Monday and Tuesday in the office, Wednesday and Thursday WFH, Friday Off.
  • Week 2: Monday and Tuesday in the office, Wednesday – Friday WFH

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes, researches, and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic, or composite structural materials for product design or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment, and maintenance designs.
  • Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowable, and structural modeling.
  • Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue, and thermal analysis.
  • Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer, and a variety of software applications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / TEAM CULTURE:

  • Will work in a team / collaborative environment of DaDT engineers.
  • The team works together to find optimal solutions to engineering challenges.

TRAINING:

  • The individual will get OJT to get them up to speed with the DaDT analysis process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Competency with FEMAP and NASTRAN pre/post-processing –
  • Significant experience with Fatigue/Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 8 years’ experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis Or Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 6 years’ experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis
  2. Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 12 years’ experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis Or Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 10 years’ experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis

SOFT SKILLS:

  • Candidate must be able to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously, comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with the following tools: jFAMS, FASTRAN, DBI/SST, Catia V5, and Knotch
  • Experience with the following: Navy fatigue/DaDT methods and report writing, Regression analysis techniques to develop load transfer functions, linear elastic fracture mechanics, Strain-life fatigue analysis methodology
  • Ability to obtain an active, in-scope DoD Secret clearance or higher
