Location: Los Angeles, CA 90045
Position: Staff Accountant
Pay Rate: $50-54/hr DOE
Duration: 26 weeks
Expected Shift: M-F 8am-5pm, 40 hours/week
JOB SUMMARY
General Accountant
Location: Remote (equipment provided by UCLA)
Required:
8+ years of accounting experience
Prefer 2+ years of mentoring other accountants but will accept those looking to take the next step in their career and oversee other team members
Bachelor's Degree
Healthcare experience is preferred
DUTIES AND TASKS
1. Manage the production of internal and external financial reports
a. Manage the development of internal reports for Department Managers.
b. Manage the preparation of financial analyses for management and executives.
c. Interact with accounting staff to ensure completion of analytical analysis for the monthly financials.
d. Review accounting ledgers on a monthly basis to ensure that revenue and expenses are properly recorded.
e. Prepare and post journal entries.
f. Assist with annual audit.
g. Assist with regulatory reporting including but not limited to Dept of Managed Health Care, CMS, IRS, and Franchise Tax Board.
2. Participation in the budget process
a. Prepare operational and capital budgets on an annual basis.
b. Contribute to monthly budget variance reporting and analysis.
3. Reconciliation of various accounts and subsidiary systems
a. Instrumental in developing and/or maintaining reconciliations for cash, premiums received, claims paid and IBNR.
4. Accounting Liaison
a. Assist department management in identifying and communicating their financial management needs.
b. Respond to department and other requests for financial data and interpretation of financial reports, ledgers, policy and accounting regulations.
5. Facilitate the completion of department policies and procedures.
6. Completion of various special projects as assigned
